As President of Baltic Trail Engineering, Jay Halloran oversees all operational and strategic initiatives.
Prior to joining Baltic Trail Engineering, he served as the Vice President of Facility Maintenance & Engineering for Ahold USA, overseeing the service of nearly 800 retail grocery stores. Previous to that, he held positions as Vice President of Marketing and Sales for GDF Suez, Director of Business Development for EMCOR Facilities Services, and National Sales Manager for Facilities Management and Outsourcing Services for Johnson Controls.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
Buster O’Brien is the Vice President of Baltic Trail Engineering. He oversees all support functions, including Accounting, Human Resources, and Information Technology. He also manages the company’s Marketing and Customer Service programs.
Prior to Baltic Trail Mr. O’Brien held a number of leadership positions at the Consigli Construction Company in the areas of human resources, project management and new business development. Before Consigli he served as a U.S. Marine Corps officer.
Mr. O’Brien holds a BS from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MBA from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College.
Director of Operations
As Director of Operations for Baltic Trail Engineering, Peter Carkhuff oversees day-to-day operations for both the Engineering and Service departments.
Prior to joining Baltic Trail Engineering, Mr. Carkhuff was the Director of Maintenance and Engineering at AholdUSA. He has also held various other leadership roles for that company. Prior to working for AholdUSA, Mr. Carkhuff served in the United States Military.
Senior Refrigeration Manager
Marty Moon is the Senior Refrigeration Manager for Baltic Trail Engineering. In this role, he oversees all service work conducted by Baltic Trail’s subcontractors, including the administration of service contracts, T&M work, and capital expenditure.
Prior to Baltic Trail, Mr. Moon was the Manager of Refrigeration Maintenance for AholdUSA. He has also held leadership positions with Giant Foods, including Superintendent of Refrigeration Maintenance & Construction.
Manager of Refrigeration and Design, Northeast
Cary Nix oversees Refrigeration engineering and construction for the New England and New York Divisions of Ahold. He manages the design, engineering, and construction of approximately $12 million of work per year. Cary has been with AholdUSA for 11 years, nine of which were spent as a member of Ahold’s internal engineering team. Cary is a valued resource for Ahold’s Construction, NFR, and Maintenance departments because of his experience as an engineer, project manager, and field technician, as well as his collaborative, objective-driven approach.
Prior to AholdUSA, Cary worked as a refrigeration field technician in construction and maintenance capacities. This hands-on experience makes him a terrific resource for identifying and resolving issues in all phases of the engineering and construction process.
Mr. Nix holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology.
Manager of Refrigeration and Design, Mid-Atlantic
Ken Welter oversees Refrigeration engineering and construction for the Giant Landover and Giant Carlisle Divisions of Ahold. He manages the design, engineering, and construction of approximately $12 million of work per year. Ken has been with Stop & Shop/Ahold for over 25 years as a member of the engineering team. Ken is a valued resource for Ahold’s Construction, NFR, and Refrigerant Tracking programs.
Mr. Welter holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
